PROSTATE CANCER VIRTUAL CELEBRATION GAINS NATIONAL RECOGNITION
The Washington State Urology Society hosted its 4th consecutive ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk this year in spite of the pandemic.
The Oregon Urological Society President, Brian Duty MD, presented a friendly wager to the WSUS as to which urological society would have the most funds raised for prostate cancer and highest participation in the virtual celebration. WSUS President, Jonathan Wright MD, accepted the wager.
We cannot thank everyone enough for all they did to help raise awareness and funds for the prostate cancer fight. Most of the funds raised this year are being used for the ZERO360 program providing comprehensive patient support services for prostate cancer patients. We encourage all of our members to share this resource with their prostate cancer patients.
The virtual celebration has received more than 16,000 views to date and is the top viewed virtual celebration in the ZERO Run/Walk race series.
Weren’t available on September 26th for the main event? No problem. A recording of the Virtual Celebration is on the race website www.zerocancer.run/Seattle. Next year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, September 25th at Seward Park during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Contact Debi Johnson if you are interested in being notified when the 2021 Race Web page is launched to create teams and register.
Due to the wild fire smoke, the virtual 5K was delayed and launched the day of the virtual celebration. Registrants are given until October 10th to upload their times to our traditional timing company’s website.
The FINAL AWARD ANNOUNCEMENTS WILL BE put out on social media on October 12th along with a follow up email to all registered participants.
