Diabetes Mellitus (elevated blood glucose) affects 17 million individuals in the United States. It is projected that the prevalence will increase 23% by 2010. Approximately one-half of all individuals with diabetes are unaware of their disease. An even larger number of Americans have mildly elevated glucose levels, termed Impaired Glucose Tolerance.
